Zipped up to Needle for a day trip with Stephen Ziff and Chris Gooliaff. The weather forecast was pretty grim and the avi hazard was at high, so things didn’t look too promising. Amazingly the weather held off and even offered some sunny breaks. we enjoyed good views and some pretty good snow conditions. Snow stability was poor and we hear several whumps during the day. We played it safe and skied mellow terrain. Over the course of the day we climbed to the summit of Needle, skied the radio tower bowl and another bowl beyond that which offered even more good skiing. It was a pretty darn good day.
